This is the third edition of our Mini-Newsletter Briefing intended to provide timely recognition and information following our Monthly Meetings.  We hope this is helpful to all our Active and Future Members!  Let us know how to improve!

With over fifty people in attendance, the July 15 Membership Mixer was a wonderful success!  Everyone had a great time getting to know each other on a more personal level. 

 

The Strategic Partners shared a wealth of information with the group as follows:

 

· Pat Crane, Co-Owner of Apple Moving informed us that Apple Moving has experienced rapid growth and is well-positioned to take on new Customers.  He spoke about the “Free Local Move” program for Realtors to offer their Clients.  Rebekah Snipp and Doug Presser spoke highly of this program.   Pat also said that Apple Moving now sells boxes and that they are the lowest priced boxes in the area.

· Eileen Bustamante shared with us that a future middle school campus is currently under construction in Summerwood with a scheduled opening in the Fall of 2010.  Eileen also reported that there is an HEB Food store coming to Summerwood!  Attendees were the first in the Local Real Estate Community to learn this news!

· Jan McCleary also reported news “fresh off the press” for Eagle Springs.  A second Elementary School has been approved for Fall 2010 opening in Eagle Springs.  Again, we were the first in the Local Real Estate Community to learn this exciting news!

· Rebekah Snipp updated the group on the new ownership at Century 21 Outstanding Homes.  She stated that they have committed to a strong training and mentoring program for their Realtor Associates and that she is also committed to helping local Agents to be successful, whether associated or not with C-21.  Many people reiterated Rebekah’s commitment to helping others.  Rebekah has played a key role in organizing our area-wide multi-Broker sponsored Open House weekends and she was also the catalyst behind the recent Praying Realtors initiative.  Everyone agreed that we can support each other so that we all realize the kind of business we desire!

· Rachel Luna showed her commitment to our Chapter by still attending after experiencing a flat tire enroute to our Membership Mixer.  Even though she arrived late, she was able to tell all of us that, as our new HWA regional sales representative, Home Warranty of America now has a new commitment to our Local Real Estate Community.  Rachel also volunteered to assume the Strategic Partner Committee Chair position for the remainder of 2009.

 

We had lots of good food, comradery and great fun!  We had numerous door prizes.  Even though the Mixer officially ended at 8:00 PM, many people stayed much later and continued to network and socialize!

As of June 25, the following seven members have successfully recruited to the following Medal Levels since the start of the Membership Pledge Olympics:

At the July 15 Membership Mixer, Tom reiterated the challenge for every member to achieve recruiting at least one new member this year and to achieve at least a Bronze Medal Award at our November Business Resource Meeting.  Congratulations to Debra, Stacy, Al, Carol, Susan, Tom and John for your recruiting efforts!  Keep it up!

Second Announcement

Susan Brown, Nominating Committee Chair announced the five candidates  recommended and slated by the Nominating Committee to run for 2010 Office at our August 19 Meeting.  The slate of candidates includes Debbie Terrago - President, Carol Alford - President-elect, John Buchanan - VP of Membership, Michele Nichols - Treasurer and Debra Camino - Secretary.  Susan explained that we will entertain nominations from the floor at our August 19 meeting prior to the election of our 2010 Officers at that meeting.  Susan thanked her Nominating Committee members Carol Bodin, Carol Alford and Tom Gallagher as well as the Officer Candidates.

John Buchanan talked about the Battle of the Lips 2009 Fundraiser Extravaganza scheduled for Friday night, October 30 at the Marriott Hotel IAH Airport.  John said that as Realtors and related industry professionals, we all “flap our lips a lot” as part of our chosen career.  Now we will have the opportunity to use our well groomed lips to lip synch to our favorite song.  We will have three different levels of competition:

 

Single set of Lips set to your favorite song!

Duet two set of Lips set to your favorite song!

Group set of three or more Lips with your favorite song!

 

Celebrity Guests will be our Judges

 

$50 Ticket per person includes Meal, Show, Dancing and Lots of Fun!!

John Buchanan informed the Membership Mixer crowd that cabin space can still be booked for the August 31-September 5 MCE Cruise.  Rates will not be quite as good as our group discount fare, but, if you are a past Carnival Cruise customer, the rate will be very close to our group discount rate.  Call John at 832-969-4352 to reserve your cabin space and MCE Course seat.
